Since we opened the doors four years ago, the Olde Post Office Café on the shores of Lake Minnehonk in Mount Vernon Village, has come to mean many things to many people and that was part of our plan. We recently asked our customers to jot down a few words that expressed their thoughts about the café and what they had to say was both flattering and gratifying.

From the very start it was our dream to create an atmosphere where customers know they can find the best in casual contemporary and classic cuisine in a warm, inviting setting; a place where the sense of community is as important as the food on the plates. We wanted the Café to be a place for a quick cup of fresh-ground coffee on the way to work or a meeting place where friends and family could gather to enjoy a casual meal, unhurried and apart from the cares of the day – a place to entertain company, celebrate family milestones, enjoy a night out or just a place to find joy in both good food and good conversation.
At the heart of our mission has been the desire and dedication to provide classic and contemporary casual dishes and baked goods using the freshest possible ingredients sourced locally and prepared with care and creativity by our professional staff. Our Manager and Master Baker Shari Hamilton is continually coming up with new pastries to line the baked goods cases while turning out the best home-made breads with the finest flours and ingredients to use in our creative sandwiches and paninis and for sale over the counter. And I bring a globe-trotting fusion of tastes and cooking styles for our soups, stews and savory lunch and dinner specials to tempt and delight regulars and first-time visitiors, alike.
